'Diya Aur Baati Hum' jumps to top spot in UK

‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ has managed to push rival shows out the way by becoming the most watched show in the UK, according to latest data obtained by BizAsia.

The popular drama, which airs weeknights at 21:00 attracted 261,000 – peaking at 293,600 – one of the biggest audiences for the drama since it launched. ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ was in second place with 207,600 viewers and new drama ‘SaraswatiChandra’ continued to impress with 203,000 at 19:30.

The others in the pecking order were ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ (153,300), ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ (143,300), ‘Kaali Ek PunarAvtar’ (142,700), ‘Veera’ (139,100) and ‘Saathiya’ (137,300).

Rishtey had a fantastic night yesterday with two of its shows achieving record figures – ‘Bairi Piya’ at 20:30 attracting 87,300 viewers and ‘Na Aana Is Desh Laado’ with 81,100. ‘Jeevan Saathi’ also continued to impress at 20:00 with 48,300 viewers.

Star Life Ok’s ‘Devon Ka Dev Mahadev’ was easily the most watched show on the channel with 41,100 viewers, followed by ‘2612’ at 21:00 with 33,900 viewers. The show ‘Savdhaan India’ got around 30,000 viewers at 22:30. ‘Amrit Manthan’ was next with 24,600 viewers.

On Zing, local production ‘Cloud 9’ pulled in around 1,000 viewers at 10:30 yesterday morning but rated zero at 16:30, 18:30 and 22:30. ‘World Of Bollywood’ at 18:00 was the most watched show on Zing with 7,300 viewers.
