'Dabangg 2' premiere on Star Gold proves a huge hit

The World TV Premiere of blockbuster ‘Dabangg 2’ has boosted Star Gold’s Sunday night ratings, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia.

The Salman Khan-Sonakshi Sinha hit action movie, which was shown last night between 20:00 and 22:15 pulled in 122,600 viewers – peaking at 150,800 viewers. The film had a 0.51 per cent share during that time slot. Typically without premieres, the Sunday night slot on Star Gold averages between 10,000 viewers and 50,000 viewers.

On UMP Movies, the premiere of ‘Khiladi 786’ also did well with 77.600 viewers at 21:00 – peaking at 123,500 viewers. The film previously shown on Rishtey, did better with 101,300 viewers last month.

On Star Plus, ‘Arjun’ at 20:00 pulled in 62,700 viewers – making it the channel’s most watched show, followed by the second episode of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s Las Vegas concert. It attracted 39,800 viewers at 21:00. The repeat telecast of award-winning film ‘Kahaani’ starring Vidya Balan at 22:00 got 15,100 viewers.

On Sony SAB TV, the much publicised British Asian show ‘Goodness Gracious Me’ pulled in just 7,300 viewers at 20:30, with another 1,100 viewers tuning in at 23:30 for the uncensored version.

On Rishtey, Pakistani drama ‘Humsafar’ was once again the channel’s most watched show with 38,200 viewers at 20:30. ‘Shaitaan’ hosted by Sharad Kelkaar brought in 34,200 viewers to the channel at 21:30. The repeat telecast of the old Salman Khan movie ‘Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya’ at 17:30 pulled in 28,300 viewers.
