Zing’s experiment with local drama production ‘Cloud 9’ attracted the best ever ratings for the channel since its launch last week.

According to exclusive UK viewing data obtained by BizAsia from Attentional for Tuesday evening, ‘Cloud 9’ got an audience of 18,400 at 18:30. The biggest audience the show has delivered for the channel. However, its 16:30 and 22:30 repeats got miniscule ratings – too small an audience to be measured.

The channel is hoping ‘Cloud 9’ works not only as a unique property for a British Asian TV broadcaster but also for audiences who will be able to connect with the show due to its local content.

On Star Plus, ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ was back on top. It got the biggest viewership amongst all the Asian TV shows in the UK. The 20:30 primetime drama attracted 196,200 – peaking at 218,800. No doubt the ratings today will be a reprieve for viewers, who have been concerned with reports that the show could be going off-air next month.

‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyara Pyara’ got an audience of 179,000 and sat firm in second place. It peaked to 217,900 during the course of the show. ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ got a rating of 154,200 at 21:00, followed by ‘Saathiya’ with 152,200. ‘Yeh Khamoshiyan’ got an audience of 146,500.

Surprisingly ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ underperformed last night with just 93,200 viewers tuning in.

On Rishtey, ‘Na Aana Is Des Laado’ got the best rating ever with a huge 81,200 tuning in at 21:00. It peaked further to 87,000. ‘Jeevan Saathi’ continued to impress with 67,000 and ‘Bairi Piya’ was in third with 62,600.

Above data is an overnight rating and may change slightly after consolidated figures become available in seven days from BARB.
