Germany’s thrilling 7-1 win over Brazil last night in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2014 tournament, was enough to trounce UK Asian TV channels, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia.

The match, which aired on BBC One last night peaked with an audience of 13 millions viewers and averaging with around 11 million viewers. On our Asian TV channels, the shows before and after the match performed better. ‘Saathiya’ on Star Plus was the biggest draw with 143,400 viewers – peaking at 174,200 viewers, followed by ‘Ek Hasina Thi’ with 120,400 viewers at 20:00 and ‘SaraswatiChandra’ with 108,000 viewers. The lowest amongst the shows on the channel were ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, which clashed directly with the match at 21:30 with 20,700 viewers, ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ with just 40,700 viewers and ‘Veera’ at 22:30 slumping to 29,400 viewers.

On Colors, the repeat of ‘BeIntehaa’ at 19:00 got 34,500 viewers, followed by ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ with 26,500 viewers and ‘Uttaran’ with 25,600 viewers. ‘Rangrasiya’ fell to just 8,400 viewers as it clashed directly with the football.

On Rishtey, ‘Parichay’ was the biggest show with 33,100 viewers at 20:00, followed by ‘Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha’ with 23,000 viewers at 19:00 and ‘Meri Aashiqui’ at 20:30 with 20,700 viewers.

On Star Life Ok, ‘Gustakh Dil’ did well with 24,000 viewers at 19:30, followed by ‘Savdhaan India’ with 12,400 viewers and ‘Nadaan Parinbdey’ with 11,700 viewers at 21:00.
