Overnights: ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ triumphs over ‘Bigg Boss 9’ launch

The premiere of ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ on Star Plus UK last night took lead over its rivals yesterday, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia.

The blockbuster movie starring Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, was watched by a mind-boggling 153,300 viewers – peaking at 251,100 viewers. It was the most watched afternoon movie on UK Asian television ever. The channel’s viewership was up to five times higher than its rivals. All-in-all, Star Plus registered a huge peak in its ratings on Sunday. ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ at 19:30 recorded 124,300 viewers, followed by ‘Saathiya’ at 19:00 with 123,300 viewers and ‘Mere Angne Mein’ at 17:30 with 107,300 viewers. The final of ‘Dance +’ at 20:00 was watched by 78,800 viewers.

On Colors, the return of mother of all reality shows, ‘Bigg Boss 9’ was watched by 105,700 viewers – peaking at 165,700 viewers. It was the most watched show post 21:00 across UK Asian TV networks. However, the show’s launch was much lower than last year. It attracted 125,100 viewers for the launch of ‘Bigg Boss 8’ – 20,000 viewers less this year. ‘The Anupam Kher Show’ at 20:00 pulled in 25,900 viewers and ‘Sasural Simar Ka – Maha Episode’ at 19:00 could only garner 1,100 viewers.

On Rishtey, ‘Thapki – Maha Episode’ at 20:00 was top with 50,600 viewers, followed by ‘Nail Polish’ at 19:30 with 28,500 viewers and ‘The Anupam Kher Show’ at 21:00 with 15,300 viewers.

On Zing, ‘Look Who’s Talking’ featuring Fawad Khan at 19:30 was watched by 9,000 viewers, followed by ‘The Film Show’ at 20:00 with 1,400 viewers and ‘Bad Company’ at 19:00 started with 1,000 viewers.

On Hum TV, ‘Dastaan’ took lead with 59,800 viewers at 21:00, followed by ‘Kaisay Tum Say Kahoon’ at 20:00 with 8,700 viewers.

On &TV, cult classic movie ‘Sholay’ at 15:00 took a large chunk of the viewership with 37,700 viewers – peaking at 82,100 viewers, followed by ‘Deal Or No Deal’ at 20:00 with 13,600 viewers and ‘Tujhse Naraaz Nahi Zindagi’ at 19:00 with 11,600 viewers. Movie ‘Naseeb’ at 22:00 was watched by 6,400 viewers.

On Geo TV, ‘Maikay Ko Dey Do Sandesh’ at 19:30 pulled in 13,400 viewers, followed by ‘Ranjish Hi Sahi’ at 20:00 with 6,500 viewers.

On SAB TV, the most watched show on the channel was ‘Comedy Superstar’ at 20:00 with 28,000 viewers, followed by the repeat telecast of ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ at 14:00 with 13,600 viewers.
