Over 200 complaints for Channel 4’s ‘Indian Winter’

Channel 4 has received over 200 complaints for the ‘Indian Winter’ season it aired last month.

Majority criticised ‘Gordon۪s Great Escape’ series featuring chef Gordon Ramsay’s trip to India, with others unhappy with the season focusing on slums rather than India۪s wider culture and heritage.

The three-part series called ‘Gordon۪s Great Escape’, which was aired as a part of Channel 4’s popular ‘Indian Winter’ season, was the second-most complained about show last month, with 162 viewers contacting Channel 4.

Their complaints centered on Ramsay۪s language and brusqueness in speaking with the “mild-mannered” and “gentle” people he met, in the words of one complainant.

Another 30 viewers took issue with what one person perceived as McCloud۪s “complete lack of understanding, manners, sensitivity and tact” in his series Kevin McCloud: Slumming It.

The channel received a further 20 complaints for the season portraying India with just slums and not on any of its landmarks.

However, 21 viewers contacted to C4 to praise McCloud۪s series and another 14 rated Ramsay۪s programme.
