Oscars 2021: 93rd Academy Awards to be postponed by four months?

Next year’s Oscars – 93rd Academy Awards could be postponed by four months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to The Sun, organisers are considering pushing the prestigious ceremony to May or June 2021, from its 28th February 2021 date.

With a number of major movies being postponed for release due to the global crisis, movie studios have been told this week that they will have a longer release window for their films to eligible for nomination.

A source told the publication, “What they’re proposing is pushing back the ceremony, which was going to take place on February 28, to either late May or early June. Doing this means films forced to postpone their release dates can put them out later this year or in early 2021 knowing they will still be eligible for the Oscars.”
