Onir signs British actress Wendy Glenn for ‘Veda’

After Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Haider’ (2014), national award filmmaker��Onir is busy with his adaptation of ‘Hamlet’, titled ‘Veda’. Onir has roped in popular British actor Wendy Glenn to play the role of Hamlet’s mother, Gertrude in the film, which was played by Tabu in ‘Haider’.

To Bollywood Hungama, Onir shared his excitement on roping in Glenn, “Wendy is an phenomenal actor and we are so happy to have her as part of the film. She immerses herself in the character, which is such a wonderful quality. She is a stunning person as she is an actor.”

Glenn is also quite excited in working with the ‘Veda’ team, and her first trip to India. She shared, “It is such a pleasure to be working with Onir, my co-actors, Bhavna and the team and on such an amazing script. It has been a great experience so far, I cannot wait for the next schedule in India and to experience the magic that is India for the first time.”

‘Veda’ is the first Bollywood film to be extensively shot in Shakespeare’s birthplace, Stratford Upon Avon. The producer Bhavna Talwar added, “I am delighted to welcome Wendy on board, she fits the part perfectly. I am having great fun donning the producer’s hat and looking forward to being able to help make the film that Onir has envisioned.”

Glenn is popular for her appearances in the ‘CSI’ series (2009) and for the horror film, ‘You’re Next’ (2013).
