Omung Kumar on pressures of re-launching Sanjay Dutt in ‘Bhoomi’

Omung Kumar’s forthcoming film ‘Bhoomi’, is as we all know Sanjay Dutt’s comeback film, so the pressure was on to ensure everything about the film would give justice to Dutt’s return.

Reported in the Times Of India, when Kumar was asked about the pressures he faced, he said they were there initially, but these soon passed. He also gives his reasons for ‘Bhoomi’ being the right film for Dutt. “Another director would perhaps have presented Sanjay Dutt in his previous avatar, I focused on his acting, nuances, and the detailing… Since this is his comeback film, the pressure was there, but once I started shooting, the story took over. Only when the promotions began did we feel the pressure again.” Adding, “But once we started shooting, the story took over. Only when the promotions began did we feel the pressure again.”

Kumar explains how he was delighted after reading a few lines from the script, the ‘Shootout At Lokhandwala’ (2007) actor chose ‘Bhoomi’ as the film to relaunch his career. Kumar who initially started of as the art director for the film, shared that he only took on the role as film director after Dutt questioned why he wasn’t directing the film.

‘Bhoomi’ which sees Aditi Rao Hydari as Dutt’s daughter in the film, will be releasing next week on the 22nd September.
