Om Puri separates with wife Nandita after 26 years

It definitely seems like 2016 is separation-filled for Bollywood stars. In amongst all the news, it’s emerged that veteran actor Om Puri has separated from his wife of 26 years, Nandita.

A court decree has been granted which means that the couple are separated and allowed to live separate lives whilst still being legally married, according to DNA. The court has allowed the actor to meet with his son Ishaan but if he was to meet with Nandita, a third party would need to be present.

Puri’s lawyer, Jalaja Nambiar, told Deccan Herald, “Mr Puri wanted divorce but because things started going here and there, he opted for an amicable settlement and the court granted them judicial separation under which they are a married couple legally but have their separate lives and cannot interfere in each other’s matter”.

Nandita herself also said, “There were no terms. Everything happened peacefully. We are living separately till we get back. We have withdrawn all the cases against each other”. She has previously accused Puri of domestic violence.
