Ofcom softens approach on annual fee payments during coronavirus

Ofcom has confirmed that it will be softening its approach on reporting deadlines and fee payments amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

RadioToday reports that to ensure broadcasters continuing to run without disruption, it is willing to delay payment for annual licence fees if a particular station is having trouble.

Ofcom said that it will not be taking any further action against any radio station that has not submitted an annual Radio Relevant Turnover request, due by 20th March 2020, or any community radio station that hasn’t provided a financial report, due on 3rd April 2020.

Previously Ofcom announced that it would relax licence obligations, should radio stations unable to deliver on their Format or Key Commitments requirements over the coming months.
