Ofcom raps Zing agin over excessive advertising

ZEE Network’s showbiz and lifestyle channel, Zing has once again be pulled up by Ofcom for going over permitted duration of advertising.

This is the third occassion Zing has been rapped by Ofcom. According to Ofcom, it noted that on the 16th of October 2011 Zing transmitted 1 minute and 4 seconds more advertising than the amount permitted in a single clock hour.

Surprisingly ZEE Network decided not to respond to Ofcom’s request for comments regarding this material.

This compliance failure follows previous breaches recorded by Ofcom covering a series of minutage overruns on Zing. In those cases, ZEE Network had provided assurances to Ofcom that adequate procedures had been implemented to minimise the risk of a recurrence.

Ofcom is particularly concerned that despite these previous assurances by ZEE Network, its revised procedures have not proved sufficiently robust to prevent further breaches of the Code.
