Ofcom makes call for Ramadan 2014 radio applications

Ofcom has requested for anyone wishing to apply for a Short term Restricted Service Licence (SRSL) to provide a radio service during the Ramadan period in June/July 2014, to do so immediately.

Ramadan falls within this period and, based on previous experiences, Ofcom expect to receive a large number of applications to run radio stations at this time.

In some locations in the UK, the high demand for SRSLs and the limited FM frequencies available, Ofcom expect to have to allocate licences by way of a draw and not the usual “first come, first served” basis.

Applicants are therefore invited to submit their application starting Monday 13th January 2014 and ending on Friday 17th January 2014.
