Ofcom approves Sunrise Radio’s news reduction

Media regulator, Ofcom has approved Sunrise Radio Group’s request to reduce the amount of local news it broadcasts.

The three stations Sunrise Radio, Kismat Radio and Buzz Radio have all had their licence formats tweaked to coincide with the change.

As of last month, main station Sunrise Radio will no longer need broadcast weekend local bulletins. However, the weekday in-house bulletins will continue. Kismat Radio’s request to remove all local bulletins produced in house – weekday and weekends have been approved.

Buzz Radio has also removed all local news requirements from its weekday and weekend schedules. Furthermore, the regulator has approved the change of service character.
