Ofcom announces 43 locations for new community radio licences

Ofcom has today published a list of 43 locations across the UK where it will invite applications for new FM community radio licences.

Ofcom selected the areas based on responses to its earlier call, last November, for individuals or groups to express their interest in applying for a community radio licence.

Ofcom said that the places listed cover a wide area (some are the result of more than one expression of interest in adjacent areas, for example). Applications can be considered for a location or locations within the area described, though applicants are encouraged to read its Coverage and planning policy for analogue radio for guidance on coverage area policy.
