Bangladeshi entertainment channel, NTV has confirmed to BizAsia.co.uk that it has been awarded the rights for the upcoming Bangla Premier League (BPL) cricket.
The channel said it was televising the BPL matches in the UK and parts of Europe. It added that it was unaware of Sky Sports having any broadcasting rights for the tournament.
Up until yesterday, rumours indicated that NTV would show the matches with Bengali commentary and Sky Sports with English. However, with the way things stand, NTV will be the sole broadcaster of the matches.
The BPL will be taking place between Friday 10th February to Wednesday 29th February 2012.
There will be around 33 Twenty20 games with six teams, similar to the renowned Indian Premier League (IPL). The six teams will play each twice before knockout stages. The final four teams will play in semi-finals before deciding the ultimate winner in the finals.
