No ‘Raajneeti 2’ reunion for Ranbir Kapoor & Katrina Kaif

Prakash Jha’s ‘Raajneeti’ (2010) saw alleged couple Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif share the screen. Although their romance didn’t last until the end of the story, BizAsia has learnt that Kaif will be returning in the sequel without Kapoor.

Kaif’s character, Indu, will be central to the plot of ‘Raajneeti 2’ and the story will move on with her being a Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. A source spoke to Mumbai Mirror, “Ranbir Kapoor, whose character, Samar Pratap Singh, leaves India after a messy succession battle which ends with the death of his partner, will stay away from politics.”

“The climax of the original film revealed that Indu was pregnant with her deceased husband Prithviraj Pratap Singh’s (Arjun Rampal) child. Part 2 will be her journey,” continued the source.

The original film was inspired by the story of Sonia Gandhi and the second instalment is expected to portray the shift in power in the sub-continent. Kaif should be starting ‘Raajneeti 2’ by the end of 2015.
