Recently, director-producer of ‘Airlift’ Nikhil Advani, opened some facts about his friend Akshay Kumar. He claims to have shown a brand new side of Akshay Kumar in his forthcoming flick.

“Nothing is easy in this industry. We are good friends. It’s okay, but that alone doesn’t work. Akshay is known for his comedy and action films. This film (Airlift) doesn’t have these things, it has drama. There is brand new Akshay Kumar (in the film),”Advani told Mumbai Mirror.

Previously, Advani and Kumar collaborated for ‘Chandni Chowk to China’ (2009) and ‘Patiala House’ (2011). It is for the third time that duo has joined hands for any project.

The filmmakerpraised Kumar and said that the superstar likes good scripts. “I was talking to him for some other film and just spoke to him in general about this idea (‘Airlift’). He was like why I am not talking about it. I felt he would not do it. But he liked it. He likes good scripts,” he said.

Advani said that he researched a lot for the film and read many articles. He met victims of the situation (Iraq-Kuwait war), and tried to get information as much as possible. He also met pilots, who were parts of evacuation process.

‘D-Day’ (2013) director finds no risk in directing a film like, ‘Airlift’ as he likes good scripts.Advani alsopraised film’s co-director Raja Menon by remarking him as a very competent director and a one who is very passionate about the story. He admitted that it would have been unfair on his part to just direct the film. He doesn’t just want to be a director as he loves to produce good films as well.

‘Airlift’ is scheduled to release on 22nd January 2016.
