Nick Jonas on living with Type 1 diabetes for 14 years

As Diabetes Awareness Month approaches, American pop singer Nick Jonas who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 14 years ago, has urged his fans and followers to join his foundation Beyond Type 1.

The singer took to the Instagram platform and shared his appeal with an heartfelt note on his experience. Along with his experience, Spotboye reveals that the diagnosis shaped his health and eating habits. Jonas added that Type 1 diabetes made him feel lonely and isolated, therefore he co-founded Beyond Type 1 in 2015 so that no one felt alone with the diagnosis.

“14 years ago this month I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. This experience has shaped how I approach my health – working out, eating well, and always thinking about my blood sugar and insulin needs. You can’t always see what goes into managing an invisible illness, and Type 1 diabetes can feel lonely and isolating. That’s why I co-founded @BeyondType1 in 2015, to make sure no one feels alone with this diagnosis and to share how you can thrive with Type 1 diabetes. November is Diabetes Awareness Month – join us at Beyond Type 1 by sharing how diabetes has impacted your life using #TheDropSpotted. I’m so grateful to my fans for your support and kindness!”, wrote the singer.

His wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas showed her support by commenting, “So proud of you love.”

November is National Diabetes Month, a time when communities across the world team up to bring attention to diabetes.
