Just when everyone thought the path was clear for the release of ‘Udta Punjab’ after the Bombay High Court ruling on Monday, a Jalandhar based NGO has moved the Supreme Court against the film’s release on Friday.

NDTV reports that the NGO alleges the film depicts Punjab in a bad light with references to drug abuse in the state. Its lawyer has urged the court to hear his plea before the film hits theatres on Friday. The court has asked the petitioner to complete paper work before it decides to look into the case.

On Monday, Bombay High Court overruled the CBFC’s order of 89 cuts in the film. ‘Udta Punjab’ was cleared with one cut and a disclaimer.
