Some of the finest South Asian music talent will perform at Central Park, East Ham in London on Friday 17th August as part of the annual Newham Under The Stars event. One of the summer’s biggest free music events will see local talent from East London perform alongside internationally renowned music stars from diverse genres.
Headlining the Friday evening event will be chart-topping music producer Dr Zeus, who has been delivering global hits for nearly 20 years including Jugni Ji, Kangna, Mitran De Boot, Inch and his recent release Woofer, which features hip hop icon Snoop Dogg. Dr Zeus will delight fans with an explosive set featuring high profile artists including Zora Randhawa, Rajveer, K-Rick, Rameet Sandhu, DJ Harpz and Manny Kooner. “Rokhsana Fiaz made history by becoming mayor of Newham in May and I love how she is bringing everyone together with this free open air concert. We are gonna light up East London with great music on a Friday night like never before and hope to see you all there,” said Dr Zeus.
Also on the line-up is chart-topping urban artist Mumzy Stranger, who will perform an eye-catching set featuring special guests including bhangra sensation H-Dhami, rising British star Nish, Swedish singer Rupika and DJ Kye. “There is a great line-up at this year’s Newham Under The Stars event. For my set my team is on board, so it will be something to remember. I also have my brother H-Dhami performing with us, so it will be amazing. There will also be some surprises. We are all working really hard to prepare a performance everyone will remember and hope to see you all there at Central Park in East Ham on August 17 evening,” said Mumzy Stranger.
Other artists performing on the action-packed line up include soulful singer Avina Shah, explosive percussion group Dhol Frequency, dance group 4ALL2ENVY Entertainment and Bollywood band Side Partition, who featured on BBC 4 .The fabulous four-hour musical extravaganza will be hosted by popular BBC Asian Network host Nadia Ali and DJ/rapper Anj Baig, who featured on Asian reality TV show Desi Rascals. The free family friendly event also includes free Henna, a free photo-booth and food stalls.
The annual four-day Newham Under The Stars events runs from August 16-19 and includes free music on each day incorporating different genres and styles. Artists performing on the other nights include The Skatalites, Levi Roots, Bitty Mclean, Daddy Ernie, Soul II Soul, Ultimate Earth, Wind & Fire and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Sunday night will conclude with a spectacular fireworks grand finale. Newly elected Newham mayor Rokhsana Fiaz OBE is looking forward to welcoming everyone to what promises to be one of the best free music events of the summer.
