The new Sony SAB TV: Five new shows

With Sony SAB TV undergoing a makeover this week, BizAsiaLive.com looks at the content changes that are expected in the coming weeks.

The popular light-entertainment broadcaster has five new shows in the pipeline. The first of which launched as a part of the new look for the channel. ‘TV, Biwi Aur Main’ revolves around the daily struggles of a 32-year-old daily soap producer Rajeev Gupta, played by Karan Veer Mehra. Rajeev lives with his educated, modern and practical wife Priya, played by Shruti Seth.

The channel is also launching a historical comedy, first time on Indian television. Its called ‘Tenali Rama’, which is expected to launch this summer. Talking about ‘Tenali Rama’, producer Abhimanyu Singh, CEO of Contiloe Pictures exclusively told BizAsiaLive.com , “Its a story of a Tenali Rama, who was an extremely smart minister in Krishna Dev Rai’s administration. Its a historical comedy and its being done on a huge scale. Its the first time there will be a comedy with a historical backdrop. Its classic comedy.”

There’s also ‘Aadat Se Majboor’ and ‘Shankar Jay Kishan – 3 In 1’. The channel is planning to launch these shows by August.

Sony SAB TV is also looking at extending its primetime hours, with more original content in the early evening band.
