New online portal to offer free video channels

A new website by the name of ‘2468.tv’ is set to launch a bouquet of ten channels, which will include informative and entertaining programmes.

The portal is being launched by the Asian Media Corporation, which claims its service “will be the world�۪s first family Internet entertainment channel.” It also is dubbing itself as the world’s second largest video viewing site after YouTube.

Some channels the website will be making available at launch are:

�ۢ Documentary
�ۢ Pop music
�ۢ Religious TV (Sikhism, Hinduism, Islam, Christianity)
�ۢ Urban Desi
�ۢ TV shows
�ۢ Pakistani pop
�ۢ Live performances
�ۢ News Channel (in Hindi, English, Telugu, Punjabi, Urdu)

In a press statement, the company said, “2468.tv wants to go back to our roots and give to the public what they want and what they have been missing. With the passage of time and modernization, the younger generations of South Asian are denying this very fact.”

The release added, “We, at Asian Media Corp intend to bring back what our ancestors started. 2468.tv will be a platform for South Asians across the world to raise their concerns and put right the image of South Asians. We should always remember that we are South Asians by Heart and Soul, which is a God given gift. It is 2468.tv�۪s objective to bring back the family values for our next generation which our ancestors passed onto us and let us never forget how they struggled and fought to keep their values and identity intact.”

The website will consist of audio and videos from giants like Times Music India, UMI, Speed Records, Genie Records, Xplosive records, Serious Records, FNIK media, Yash Raj Films, Eros International and other UK based distributors.

The website has implemented strict control over its software to prevent piracy or copying of videos from its site.

2468.tv will launch on Sunday 30th September 2007 when it opens itself on the Internet, with a vast collection of over 3000 videos that viewers can control.
