New ‘Muslim’ channel begins Sky EPG testing

A new community channel targeting British Muslims is set to launch on Sky Digital in the coming weeks.

The currently unnamed channel will be a hybrid of Muslim channels and is currently EPG testing before it officially goes live.

The channel will also be the first in the UK to broadcast dayparts to Somali Muslims via a strand called Raad International. Iwaan TV and IslaMedia TV will also be providing content to the channel.

Other genres the channel will delve into will be religious, discussion-led, lifestyle and light entertainment. Full programming information at this stage remains sketchy.

EPG data tests can be tuned in by following the steps below:

-> Using your Sky Digi remote, go to Services Menu
-> System Setup (4)
-> Add Channels (4)
-> Enter the frequency: 12.643 (H), FEC 2/3, Symbol Rate 27500
-> Find Channels and Press SELECT
-> Highlight “54212” service and press Yellow button.
-> Return to Services Menu
-> Other Channels (6) on STB / (8) on Sky+
-> “54212” should be listed and available
