New Asian radio station gears up for launch

A new radio station broadcasting from Bradford will go live in the city on 87.9FM and on Sky Digital.

Radio Apni Awaz will broadcast round the clock and its programmes will be targeted to the whole family with special emphasis on Islamic shows including religious.

According to reports on another online source Radio Apni Awaz will launch on Sky Digital channel 901, which is currently occupied by Asian Gold. So it remains ambiguous as to what will happen to Asian Gold. It is not yet known when the channel will launch on Sky Digital but a Monday possibility has not been ruled out. It will launch on 87.9FM in Bradford on Sunday (15th January).

Radio Apni Awaz’s tests can be heard on Sky Digital’s Other Channels menu by being manually tuned. The details are: 12.402 (V), 27.5 under the label “Apni Awaz”.

UPDATE: Radio Apni Awaz will be launching on Sky Digital next month. It is currently broadcasting four hours on Asian Gold channel 901. Update at 12:46 on 13/01/06
