A short Indian film released on Netflix, ‘Period. End of Sentence’ has won an Oscar in the ‘Documentary Short Subject’ category.
The film based on menstruation set in rural India, is directed by Rayka Zehtabchi and produced by Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment.
During her acceptance speech, Zehtabchi said, “I’m not crying because I’m on my period or anything. I can’t believe a film on menstruation won an Oscar.”
She also gave a nod to Guneet Monga, who has been films like ‘The Lunchbox’ and ‘Masaan’. She said, “Guneet Monga – know that you have been empowering women all over the world fight for menstrual equality”.
