Ness Wadia granted bail in Preity Zinta molestation case

Three years ago, the news of Preity Zinta filing a case of molestation and verbal abuse against her former beau and co-owner of the Indian Premiere League (IPL) team Kings XI Punjab – Ness Wadia, took the entire industry by surprise. On Tuesday, a 500 page charge sheet was filed against the businessman in the same case.

A report quoted a top police source as saying, “We filed the charge sheet against Ness Wadia on Tuesday; it is 500-odd pages.” Wadia has been charged under sections 354 (assault or criminal force against woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), reports DNA India.

In her June 2014 complaint against Wadia, Zinta alleged him of molesting and intimidating her at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on 30th May 2014 during an IPL match. The star had also submitted four pictures that showed bruises on her right arm. Zinta had alleged that the said bruises occurred when Wadia had grabbed her with force.

In her statement, Zinta had also alleged Wadia of abusing the team staff on finding that Zinta  was seated in the AC Garwalre Pavillion in the stadium post which she changed her seat and sat in the non AC row. Reportedly, Wadia further abused her on the ground for the third time in front of the team members.

Reports suggest that as per the police, the statements of the all witnesses that were mentioned have been procured and a trial is likely to take place after this charge sheet. Wadia was granted bail on the surety of Rs 20,000 by the end of today
