Neha Dhupia: “We shouldn’t make a big deal about women empowerment”

Bollywood actor Neha Dhupia doesn’t understand the huge fuss and scrutiny surrounding women’s empowerment in showbiz as she feels change is already in effect.

The former Miss India title holder, according to��Hindustan Times, states, “I really don’t think that we should make a big deal about women empowerment because the more we talk about it, the more we sound like wee need it and we don’t need it.”

Dhupia notes that, in the midst of demands for female empowerment, a positive change has been generated in the industry already. “If you are talking about roles, then it is all changing. Now, there are so many author-backed roles for women. And there are some scripts where women fit in a different way there are some scripts where women fit in a certain way.”

The actress herself is a big name in entertainment, who has tried and tested wide ranging platforms and explored many different creative fields. Ticking off accomplishments on an impressive bucket-list, it��includes��winning a beauty pageant, Miss India in 2002, starring in Bollywood films, working in television with fiction series ‘Rajdhani’ ��in the late 1990’s and now making a space for herself in an era of reality TV shows, she will next be seen in ‘MTV Roadies X4’.

Talking about where she fits in the debate around female empowerment, Dhupia confessed, “I am an independent single woman and I don’t need to be empowered by anything, except the drive to do better everyday in life. So, I really don’t understand what the hue and cry is about.”

The actress is best remembered for her noteworthy performances in films like, ‘Julie'(2004), ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum'(2005), ‘Delhii Heights'(2007) and ‘Phas Gaye Re Obama'(2010).
