With the announcement on Ajay Devgn starring in the lead to play 4th century BC, scholar Chanakya, news has it that director Neeraj Pandey, plans on turning it into a small franchise.
According to SpotboyE, a source was reported revealing that the story will be told across two films. With period films recently causing a stir with certain members of the public, it seems Pandey wants to be careful in depicting a story as close to the truth as possible, without hurting anyone’s sentiments.
Devgn on the other hand, seems excited to work with Pandey, where he spoke to the media and expressed, “I am truly looking forward to playing Chanakya. I have observed Neeraj Pandey’s work closely and I know Neeraj will tell this story with the clarity and passion that it needs to be told.”
Later Pandey was also reported talking about the film, “I have been developing this film on Chanakya for some time now. It is an exciting work of passion for me, and I am sure audiences will love Ajay’s portrayal of the visionary genius.”
Devgn currently has his hands full with back to back projects, including ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’ and ‘Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior’, all to come soon.
