NDTV withdraws plans to launch HD variants of its flagship channels

New Delhi Television Limited (NDTV) has withdrawn its plans to launch high‑definition versions of its news channels in India. The broadcaster has voluntarily surrendered the permissions granted by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) for NDTV INDIA HD, NDTV 24×7 HD, and NDTV PROFIT HD.

The company had originally received approval on 28 March 2024 for the uplinking and downlinking of the three HD News and Current Affairs channels. However, following an internal strategic review, NDTV decided not to proceed with the launches.

The broadcaster has stated that the surrender of these permissions will not have any material impact on its operations or financial position, as the channels were never brought into service.
