NDTV will be shutting down its business news channel, NDTV Profit on Monday 5th June, its been confirmed.
Content from the flanking channel, will shift to sister channel, NDTV 24×7. In March 2013, NDTV Profit shared its slot with NDTV Prime by broadcasting shows on technology, information and entertainment when markets closed in evenings and weekends. NDTV Prime is expected to remain on-air.
A source at NDTV said, “NDTV has decided to transfer its business programming from Profit to regular business and finance segments on NDTV 24×7. This will mean suspending the current trading hours programming on Profit while Prime will continue as a channel. For now, there will be high quality business and finance segments on NDTV 24×7 which will enhance viewer experience on NDTV 24×7 during the daytime trading hours.”
NDTV Profit has struggled in a space dominated by CNBC-TV18 and ET Now. Bloomberg Quint is also expected to launch its new business channel later this year.
