NDTV revamps website; streaming goes free

India’s popular news network New Delhi Television (NDTV) has revamped its website with a much more interactive interface.

The NDTV.com portal now boasts of a variety of videos, which complement its general news service. Furthermore the new-look website has also removed subscription charges from its live streaming.

From this week, the English news channel NDTV 24×7 will be available free to all. Come mid-April, the network’s Hindi speaking channel NDTV India will also be available free through its website.

Visitors of the website who have paid for any monthly or annual subscription will be refunded over the next few days.

In other NDTV news, BizAsia.co.uk asked an insider at NDTV if there were any plans to launch other channels in the UK on Sky Digital, the response was, “We definitely will be doing so once we get them off the ground here [India]… NDTV Imagine, our Hindi general entertainment channel and NDTV Life, the lifestyle & travel channel will be of great interest to the UK audience and coming from the NDTV stable, you can be sure of getting quality content…”

Both channels are expected to launch in India towards the latter part of 2007.
