NDTV India to go free-to-air in India

NDTV India, the network’s Hindi news channel, will be turning free-to-air from 8th April across all platforms.

The channel, is currently charged at Rs. 8.02 on non-addressable platforms and Rs 3.37 on addressable and direct-to-home (DTH) platforms.

NDTV India will be the broadcaster’s only free-to-air channel. Other channels NDTV 24×7, NDTV Good Times, NDTV Profit/Prime, will remain premium services.

NDTV said, ���NDTV India which is a pay channel now would be a free-to-air channel in India across all platforms effective midnight 8 April 2016?.

The news follows rival channels being available free-to-air on the Freedish platform, including Aaj Tak, IBN7, India TV, News24, India News and News Nation. ABP News remains outside the free model, it remains to be seen if it follows it rivals.
