Nawazuddin Siddiqui to back biopic of folk singer Teejan Bai

Nawazuddin Siddiqui who was recently seen in ‘Thackeray’ (2019) a biopic based on Indian politician Bal Thackeray; has now secured another biopic, this time based on folk singer Teejan Bai.

Reported on DNA India, the veteran artist is famously known for performing the Pandavani, encompassing a traditional performing act form while narrating the Mahabharata, which hails from Chhatissgarh. Siddiqui has always been a huge fan of hers, and it was his wife Aaliya Siddiqui who made the suggestion for the biopic.

The film will be made under the ‘Manto’ (2018) actor’s production house Magic If Film, which is also co-owned by Siddiqui’s wife and his brother Shamas Nawab Siddiqui, who will both oversee the film production too.

Also on the horizon, Siddiqui has a few films releasing, such as ‘Motichoor Chaknachoor’ starring alongside Athiya Shetty; ‘Photograph’ with Sanya Malhotra; ‘Raat Akeli Hai’ opposite Radhika Apte, as well as completing the final shoot for the Nextflix series, ‘Sacred Games’.
