After keeping mum for a few weeks, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has hit back at his estranged wife, Aaliya by issuing her with a legal notice for defamation.
Aaliya had sent Nawazuddin divorce papers on 7th May. Responding to this, Nawazuddin alleges in his notice that she is “engaging in fraud, willful and planned defamation” and “slander of character”, according to Times of India.
Nawazuddin claims that he had responded to Aaliya’s divorce papers on 19th May, within 15 days. Furthermore, she had complained that she was unable to pay for her children’s school fees as the actor had stopped his monthly contribution.
Nawazuddin’s lawyer, Adnan Shaikh reacted to the claims. He was cited in the publication saying, “EMI is still being paid by my client. Other children related expenses too. Divorce notice was replied to but again, she has stated the contrary in order to defame through this well thought slander campaign.”
The notice also demands Aaliya to issue a clarification on claims in her interviews. She has also been asked to refrain from making any further defamatory comments against the actor.
