Nawazuddin Siddiqui happy playing strong supporting roles

Nawzuddin Siddiqui has been appreciated for his supporting roles in recent films, including his last release ‘Mom’. However, he’s now playing protagonist in ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’. When asked about this, Siddiqui’s answer was interesting.

He divulged on whether it’s more pressure as a lead role, according to Ahmedabad Mirror, “There’s no pressure for this one because the makers (director Kushan Nandy and producers Kiran Shyam Shroff and Ashmith Kunder) have worked with a controlled budget. I am confident because there is no scope of box-office disappointments. We’ll break even. The pressures are when the budgets are huge.”

Talking further about taking up effective supporting parts, Siddiqui continued, “Every character has its own journey and sometimes, doing a strong supporting role can be far more satisfying, like it was alongside Srideviji for Mom. The idea is to take a character to its extremities and portray the lengths he will go to in the cinematic universe. Sometimes you have the lead role but are not able to get it right. Sometimes, a five-minute role is etched in people’s minds forever.”

‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ released yesterday.
