Critically acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui had turned producer with his brother, Shama Nawab Siddiqui’s short film, ‘Miyan Kal Aana’. After the Cannes Film Festival, the eighteen minute short film is all set to premiere at the Palm Springs InternationalFilm Festival, and Siddiqui is allsettofly toCalifornia, where the festival takes place.

The film had premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, in the ‘Short Film Corner’ category, a non-competitive segment, and an elated Siddiqui shared his excitement withMumbai Mirror.Heshared, “It was the only Indian entry in a selection of 10 international films. I’mproud that I can callmyself a successful producer.” Siddiqui couldn’t attend the premiere, as he was shooting for ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’.

The filmtells the tale ofImtiaz, anhusband who divorces his wife in anger, only to later realize, that it was a huge mistake, butcannot reunite with her because of the Halala law. The law requires thatImtiaz have his wife married to someone else, before he can be with her.

Siddiqui added that the real twist comes in when the second husband refuses to divorce Imtiaz’s wife, and that he himselfwouldn’t have dared to make a film on such a controversial subject. He said, “The film gets interesting when the new husband does not want to divorce her. Personally, I would have never thought of making a film on such a bold and controversial subject but my brother Shamas dared to take the step.”

Siddiqui’s next Bollywood release will be ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ on 17th July, where he shares screen space with Salman Khan again, after their hit, ‘Kick’ (2014).
