The 60th National Film Awards, touted as one of the most prestigious film honors in Indian cinema, were presented recently and some of the best filmmakers, actors and other artists in B-town gathered to celebrate the same.
At the awards, Delhi Safari۪ director Nikhil Advani won the title for the Best Animation Film. While the film Vicky Donor۪ won the Best Film award, actor Irrfan Khan won the Best Actor award for his appearance in the film Paan Singh Tomar۪. The Best Actress award on the other hand, was won by Usha Jadhav for Marathi film ‘Dhaag’. In the music category, the award for the Best Male Playback Singer was bagged by Shankar Mahadevan who belongs to the music-making trio, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. At the awards, actress Parineeti Chopra and actor Nawazuddin Siddiquie also won Special Jury Awards.
Now, filmmaker Nikhil Advani has teamed up with some of these National award-winning members of the Bollywood industry for an upcoming feature film titled ‘D-Day’. The film will star Irrfan Khan with Rishi Kapoor and Arjun Rampal; the latter two have also won National Film Awards on previous account.
‘D-Day’ will also star Huma Qureshi and Shruti Haasan. The trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have been roped in by the director to provide background score for the movie. This film has been grabbing lots of attention lately with its subject that calls out for justice for the victims of the 1993 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai. D-Day revolves around the infamous gangster who operated from Mumbai during the 90۪s, Dawood Ibrahim.
Nikhil Advani۪s National award winning team۪s movie is slated to release this 2013.
