Naseeruddin Shah believes ‘Waiting’ not for all type of audiences

Waiting - Kalki Koechlin, Naseeruddin Shah 340x

With his recent film ‘Waiting’ (2016) having just released in Indian cinemas, actor Naseeruddin Shah knows that the film isn’t going to appeal for all types of audiences.

“Audience, who whistle at or watch Salman and Shah Rukh Khan۪s films, Waiting۪ is not for them. But, thankfully there is a set of audience, who enjoy or like such films, “The Indian Express reported the actor stating.

“This film is not for single screen theatres. Its like there are few plays that are made only for small theatres, but some are for big theatres. If you will watch this film with 2000 people whistling, you will not enjoy it at all,” he went on to add.

Also starring Kalki Koechlin, ‘Waiting’ is directed by Anu Menon who is still relatively new to the Indian film industry. Having been a part of the industry for a long time, Shah spoke about his experience working with new filmmakers compared to more experienced ones, “Have never had bad experience in working with new directors. On the other hand, I had some really bad experiences with few veteran filmmakers. A new directors is working on his/her first film. They put their heart and soul in it. There is a fire to prove themselves.”

Talking about the film Shah expressed, “It is a simple, sober, sweet and true film written and made by heart. I think no other formula than this can make a film successful. I believe this film will touch everyone۪s heart. ”

Having been received well at the Dubai International Film Festival last year, ‘Waiting’ has been applauded by Indian critics as well. Here’s hoping this heartfelt story gives audiences the same reaction as well.
