Veteran actor Nana Patekar has been around in Bollywood since the 1970’s, though he shot to fame commercially with ‘Parinda’ (1989). The actor, who always managed off-beat films with commercial cinema, says he is now ready to retire.
Speaking to Absolute India, Patekar said,”Sometimes you get tired. I have given 42 years to films. I want to do something different now. Something that interests me, I want to write and read. I want to visit some interesting places. I want to meet people. Retiring from films is not a big deal, I had my share of fame as an actor and I am happy about it. I have no regrets.”
Patekar does not rule out the possibility of returning to acting in the future, though for now he feels it is time to pack his bags from the industry he has spent over four decades in.
The actor will next be seen in Anees Bazmee’s ‘Welcome Back’, which is slated to release on 4th September.
