‘Namak Halaal’ to be get contemporary remake?

1982’s Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Parveen Babi and Smita Patil starrer ‘Namak Halaal’ is a cult classsic somewhat and many will be either excited or apprehensive to learnt that the the rights of the film have been sold, suggesting that a remake could be on its way.

Murad Khetani has bought the rights and confirmed, according to Filmfare, “Yes, I have bought the rights to remake Amitabh Bachchan-Shashi Kapoor-Smita Patil-Parveen Babi starrer Namak Halaal. It’s a film that has been loved across generations and by people of all ages. We are working on the script at this point. We haven’t approached any actor or director for the film as of now. We will work on the casting once we lock the script completely”.

The film was well-received when it released and no doubt makers would want to achieve the same this time.
