Music maestro AR Rahman turning to film direction?

World renowned and Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman will always be appreciated for his melodies. However, it has emerged that he will be turning his musical journey into a behind-the-camera one as he is all set to direct a film.

Apparently, Rahman did a course in script-writing and film-directing in Los Angeles. In a recent interview, Resul Pookutty revealed, “We have been discussing, writing and having long chats over scripts. It is a necessary progression for AR to get into film direction”. Pookutty worked with Rahman in 2008’s ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.

It is thought Rahman and Pookutty are currently in the process of casting actors for the lead parts but Rahman will only be able to commit fully to such a project once he has wrapped up his current musical ventures. It is thought he will start this project some time in 2014.
