Music legend Balwinder Safri passes away aged 63
Music legend Balwinder Safri has passed away in hospital today.
Safri had been discharged from hospital recently after spending 86 days in New Cross hospital in Wolverhampton.
The 63-year-old was admitted to hospital on 20th April 2022 following concerns about his heart and two days later he underwent a planned triple bypass. Following the operation, Safri suffered complications and was taken back to theatre for further surgery, after which he remained in a coma, with CT scans showing he had suffered damage to his brain.
Safri born in Punjab was part of the UK bhangra scene since 1980, forming the Safri Boyz Band in 1990. Famous for hits songs including “Chan Mere Makhna”, “Pao Bhangra”, “Aaja Billo”, “Paar Linghade”.
