‘Mukti Bhawan’ wins at Asian Academy Creative Awards 2018 in Singapore

The multiple award-winning Indian drama film ‘Mukti Bhawan’/ ‘Hotel Salvation’ is the winner from India for ‘Best Original Screenplay’ for director Shubhashish Bhutiani & dialogue writer Asad Hussain at the inaugural Asian Academy Creative Awards 2018(AAAs) to be held this December in Singapore.

There are 20 countries in contention for the awards across 49 categories. ‘Mukti Bhawan’ is the sole Feature Film to be nominated for the final competition from India. Earlier this year, it won the ‘Best Original Screenplay’ at the 63rd Jio Filmfare Awards 2018. The film has been received over 30 Awards including two UNESCO, two National Awards and at Festivals around the world.

Bhutiani is elated with this honour, “It is heartening to be recognized at an International platform amongst some of the best work produced in Asia.”

“It is a matter of pride to represent your country, it reaffirms our faith in focusing on content, which is the true hero of any good film” says the film’s producer Sanjay Bhutiani.

Written and directed by Bhutiani, ‘Hotel Salvation’ follows a son faced with his father’s untimely demand to go and die in the holy city of Varanasi and attain salvation. The film starring Adil Hussain (‘Life of Pi’), Lalit Behl (‘Titli’), Geetanjali Kulkarni (‘Court’), and Palomi Ghosh.

The critics have raved about the film which garnered 4 and 5 star reviews in UK media.
