Moushumi Chatterjee fights for daughter

70s star Moushumi Chatterjee has stayed away from unwanted attention since hanging up her acting boots. She returned briefly in ‘Piku’, which also starred Amitabh Bachchan. However, things have been rather difficult for the star due to her daughter Payal’s illness.

According to The Asian Age, Chatterjee discovered that Payal suffers from chronic diabetes and went into a coma in 2016.

The report adds that Payal is apparently being given home care by her in-laws. She is married to Dicky Mehta. However, Moushumi and her husband Jayanta have moved to the court to obtain medical custody of their daughter.

A friend told the publication, “Indu (Moushumi’s real name) has been pretty much in her own world. She hasn’t been in touch with any of her friends. Payal’s condition has shattered Moushumi and Jayanta. To make matters worse the couple’s relationship with Payal’s in-laws is far from amicable. This is a very tough time for Moushumi.”
