Mohsin Issa & Zuber Issa buy Asda from Walmart for £6.8bn deal

Blackburn based billionaire brothers, Mohsin Issa and Zuber Issa have bought supermarket chain, Asda from US company, Walmart, for £6.8 billion.

The Issa brothers, who are owners of the petrol station brand, Euro Garage Group (EG Group), were named the preferred bidders to takeover Asda earlier in the week.

This is the first time Asda will be back under British ownership since 1999, when Walmart had then paid £6.7 billion.
