Mohit Suri not making ‘Aashiqui 3’ to capitalise on title

‘Aashiqui 2’ (2013) starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, and directed by Mohit Suri, created a massive fan following and it grows now also.  Mohit Suri is currently busy promoting his upcoming film ‘Half Girlfriend’ starring Kapoor as the lead actress.  He was recently asked by PTI whether he would extend the ‘Aashiqui’ franchise, and he replied, “It’s a loved franchise but it should come back for the right reason, which is the script. I would’ve made Aashiqui 2 even if it would’ve been called ‘RJ ki ek love story’ “.

As reported in Indian Express, there were stirs that the Bhatt production house were thinking of making a sequel with Siddharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt.  However, Suri continued to state, “You shouldn’t make a film because you want to capitalise on a title.  You can get the film to the audience but you can’t make them like it.  I can lose everything I built with ‘Aashiqui 2’ by making a bad ‘Aashiqui 3’ “.

The leading actor in ‘Half Girlfriend’ is Arjun Kapoor, and it is out on 19th May 2017.
