Mohammad Faiz on winning Sony TV’s ‘Superstar Singer 2’

Sony Entertainment Television’s homegrown kids singing reality show, ‘Superstar Singer 2’ has taken viewers on a memorable musical journey over the last few months by celebrating music and India’s extraordinary young singing prodigies with much galore! The show that has won the hearts of the audience week on week has come to a conclusion and has finally got this season’s ‘Singing ka Kal’ who is none other than the 14 year old, Mohammad Faiz from Jodhpur, Rajasthan. In a candid conservation with Faiz, he talks about his feelings on winning the trophy and his enriching journey on the show.

How did it feel when you lifted the Superstar Singer 2 trophy and how has your journey been on the show?
Honestly, I was completely numb. I thought Adi bhaiya was joking but when the confetti was blown and people came up on the stage I realized that I actually won the trophy and was crowned as the winner of Superstar Singer 2. I was so overwhelmed. It was the best moment for me. Since the day I came on this show right since the audition round, I started praying and working hard to win the trophy, though I never expected it but I always prayed for it. My journey on Superstar Singer 2 has been an amazing roller coaster ride. I am truly grateful to entire team of Superstar Singer 2 who have played an integral role in my journey on the show. The show has been an enriching experience throughout and gave me friendships that I will treasure forever. I am extremely delighted to have received this opportunity to showcase my talent as it I learnt, explored and experienced a lot that has made me a better version of myself and I promise to keep working on this new Faiz. This is just the beginning for me and I hope to utilize all my learnings when it comes to music really well.

Many eminent personalities from the entertainment industry graced the show, can you tell us some of your best moments?
Every celebrity guest had something or the other to say to me that always motivated me. Each and every word that they used to compliment me will be treasured in my heart forever. I cannot really choose one because everything that happened on this prestigious stage has been super special for me.

What do you want to say about your Captain Arunita?
Arunita Di has been my pillar of strength. Ever since I have been a part of her team, I have seen myself improve and grow as a singer. I have learnt a lot from her, from music technicalities to how to be a humble person and stay calm. I am taking back a bag full of memories and learnings from Arunita Didi. I won’t say that I will be missing her because we will definitely be singing together in the future as well.

What are your plans now after winning the show?
First of all, I will sleep and rest for a few days (Laughs). Jokes aside, I will complete my studies as I want to be well educated. Along with this I will keep rehearsing my music since this win is just a stepping stone for me and I know there is a long way to go which requires a lot of hard work and discipline. In the near future, I wish to compose more songs and make everybody proud.

Tell us something about the judges – Himesh Reshammiya, Alka Yagnik and Javed Ali and how did they keep your motivation level high?
HR sir, Alka ma’am and Javed sir are the pillars of the show. I have learnt so much just by observing them. Alka ma’am never treats us like we are kids rather she treats us like proper singer whereas Javed sir always makes sure to meet us personally and also shared some interesting knowledge about music along with suggestions that really helped us. HR sir has been a great motivation for me, when he said that he will give me a song to sing I took it as a compliment, but being a man of his words, he fulfilled his promise and offered me such a beautiful song as my first break. I will be forever grateful to all three judges for believing and guiding me.

Any message for your fans?
Firstly, I want to thank each and every one who voted for me and has given me so much love throughout the season. This trophy that I won belongs to everyone who supported me. I promise to be in touch with all of my fans who are now family to me. I will make more music for them and try my best to justify their decision in making me Singing ka kal. I love you all.
