ZEE5 Global is all set for the world digital premiere of the Punjabi film, ‘Mitran Da Naa Chalda’ starring Gippy Grewal, Shweta Tiwari, Tania, Raj Shoker, Renu Kaushal, and Anita Devgan among others. Directed by Pankaj Batra and written by Rakesh Dhawan, the Punjabi film received a great response during its theatrical run and is now set to premiere on ZEE5 on 14th April 2023.
The movie’s plot follows four young women who have left their homes to work in Chandigarh and are living together as paying guests. What brings them together is the need to support their families while struggling to make ends meet, as well as the sexual harassment they face at work. But everything changes when they become suspects in a murder investigation. This is when they are introduced to Laadi, a self-taught legal expert who dropped out of school because of the embarrassment and the bullying he faced owing to his stammering. Laadi decides to put his expertise to use and fight for them, but will he succeed despite the opposition and the pressure?
The film has a strong message at its core and highlights key issues of society like gender discrimination, workplace harassment, and unemployment. However, the film does a good job of delivering a socially relevant message while maintaining the perfect balance between humour and drama.
Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer, ZEE5 India said, “Punjab is a significant market for ZEE5, and it is our endeavour to consistently increase our footprint in that market. Till now we have worked with most talented storytellers and presented content that is entertaining with notable performances to our audience. Mitra Da Naa Chalda is another entertainer with a socially relevant message. Our audience is always looking for good content and we are confident that this movie will satiate their appetite.”

Director Pankaj Batra said, “I have always wanted to tell meaningful, yet entertaining stories and I am glad that I get to do that via my films. Even though Mitran Da Naa Chalda gives a socially relevant message, we have still maintained the humour and the drama element to make it more engaging. After a successful run at the box office, we are looking forward to the film’s release on ZEE5”.
Actor Gippy Grewal said, “Working on Mitra Da Naa Chalda felt like home-coming as the whole cast, crew and the co-actors were so affectionate that it didn’t make us feel that we are working on a film. The film has a lot to offer – humour, comedy, romance, and a lot more! And a concept like this is never explored before and we believe that it’s important to talk about women’s safety and their ordeal We see a greater traction towards the film on ZEE5 as this is the perfect family entertainer one would want to invest in”.
