After 23 years, Subash Ghai has again teamed Rishi Kapoor and Mithun Chakraborty to come together in his next venture called ‘Kaanchi’.
Set to go on floors in January, Ghai has signed on a couple of newcomers with Chakraborty and Kapoor playing their relatives. Hindustan Timesreported Ghai confirming, “Yes,we have signed Mithun. He plays the godfather of one of the newcomers and archrival to Rishi Kapoor, who plays a flamboyant business tycoon. Both characters are larger than life and have negative shades. Mithun is one of the most talented actors in the film industry and he has never played a character like this one. The way that the role has been conceived, it is one that will need to be watched out for.”
Though the lead actors have yet to be finalised, Ghai knows exactly what he is looking for and is extremely confident about this project, “We will start shooting as soon as we finalise the girl. We are selecting boys from the Whistling Woods Acting Studio. But we need a 19 or 20-year-old girl to play the title role. She needs to be a rustic beauty, have natural talent and an aggressive attitude, preferably from north India. Kaanchi is a once-in-a-lifetime role and even I don۪t know who۪s that lucky girl is.”
